Biomass, a renewable energy source, is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms, such as wood, waste, and alcohol fuels. Biomass is commonly plant matter grown to generate electricity or produce heat. Biomass is renewable, theoretically an inexhaustible fuel source, uses low-cost waste products, sources are commonly available and locally produced, it is reducing greenhouse gases and it is available throughout the world.
